Adele reportedly decided not to work with Beyoncé, even though the superstar singer pursued her for a year.

The British star is back with her new single Hello and an album, called 25, which is due out later in November (15). Her music has gone down a storm with fans, with many famous faces also gushing about it - such as Sam Smith and Katy Perry. It seems American singer Beyoncé has been a fan for some time, but that wasn't enough to convince Adele they should team up.

"Bey has been asking Adele for a year to join forces," a source told Britain's Heat magazine. "She went into the studio with Adele at the end of last year and tried to convince her to collaborate on a track. Adele turned down the offer, so now Bey is putting the song on her new album instead, which everyone is saying will drop before the end of the year."

It's not known why Adele decided against signing with Beyoncé, but one possibility is she guards her personal life so carefully. She's been open about her struggle with fame, explaining that she worries about being engulfed by it and it changing her.

"I'm just frightened of it, you know?" she said. "Frightened of it destroying me and it ruining my and me getting lost... It's a bit toxic, fame. I've got enough toxins in me body. I don't need any of that!"

The star has also been very careful about the music she is releasing. As 25 is her first album since 2011'S 21, Adele thought long and hard about the tracks she wanted to include. In fact, almost a whole record about being a mother - she has three-year-old Angelo with her partner Simon Konecki - was ditched.

"Definitely for this record I would say so, because when I was writing my last record no one was waiting," she told DJ Nick Grimshaw, when asked if she worried about what to say this time around. "There was no one sitting with a pen trying to analyse what I was talking about. It took me a long time to focus on how I wanted to write and what I wanted to write about. I mean, I can't write 21 again because I'm not in that place; I'm in a great place. I had to find another part of my life - I did pretty much write an album about being a mum, but that's pretty boring for everyone who isn't a mum (so) I scrapped that."
